We believe exercise is highly beneficial for maintaining physical health and a positive mindset. That's why we support activities and initiatives that encourage children and youth to stay active.
AIA recognises that sports play a vital role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and has been advocating football as one of the most relevant sporting platforms through its partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (Spurs). In 2019, AIA Foundation collaborates with Hong Kong Football Club to conduct a School Outreach Programme. The programme invites Spurs' coaches to develop and implement a formal training programme for local students, offering them a rewarding opportunity to develop their football skills while staying fit through enjoyable and uplifting activities.
With AIA Foundation's sponsorship, more places in Hong Kong Football Club's Junior Soccer Programme are designated for less privileged children from non-governmental organisations (“NGOs”), such as Po Leung Kuk, providing them a wider access to football.
In 2018, we sponsored the Sports Legacy training programme for 20 students from Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College in Tai O. They were trained by Chan Ka-Ho, a renowned long-distance runner in Hong Kong, to compete in the Monsters University 5K race organised by Hong Kong Disneyland. Majority of the participating students came from minority groups. This opportunity not only helped them improve their mental and physical health, but also allow them to meet new friends and assimilate into the society.
