Recipients of the AIA Scholarships (AIA Scholars) actively contribute to society by participating in activities to protect nature. Most recently, they cleaned up trash along the hiking trails of Tai Mo Shan Country Park as one of the volunteer services of the Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP) organised by AIA Foundation. The AIA Scholars teamed up with a group of foreign domestic helpers who are hiking lovers in this event for an opportunity to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds as well as the chance to play an active role in social inclusion. This activity also reflects the spirit of environmental protection and social inclusion in AIA's "Environmental, Social and Governance" (ESG) commitment.
AIA Foundation established the AIA Scholarships in 2020, pledging US$100 million to support 100 undergraduates each year to complete their undergraduate studies at a Hong Kong's university1 over the next several decades. On top of financial support, the scholars can join YLDP activities organised by AIA Foundation. Throughout their academic journeys, AIA Scholars will be equipped with the skills needed to become socially responsible leaders of tomorrow through activities such as career-planning workshops and opportunities to serve their community.
