Following the HK$30 million donation to Yan Oi Tong through AIA Foundation, AIA is making another donation of HK$10 million via AIA Foundation to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) to offer emergency support to people with disabilities who are impacted by the pandemic. The donation will be made in the form of supermarket and dining cash vouchers to be distributed through HKCSS' agency members to 10,000 persons with disabilities, supporting them on purchases of meals and daily necessities to weather the hardship. Moreover, in light of the latest development of the pandemic, AIA announces further expansion of its Special Claim Arrangement for Hospital Cover1 for eligible customers to include four new community treatment facilities, namely, Tsing Yi Community Isolation Facility, San Tin Community Isolation Facility, Community Isolation Facility on Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities Island of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and Fanling Community Isolation Facility, enabling them to enjoy the same cover as with general hospitalisation.
Mr. Alger Fung, Chief Executive Officer of AIA Hong Kong & Macau and Director of AIA Foundation, said, "We understand that people with disabilities are always battling the problem of unemployment or underemployment, which is exacerbated by the pandemic, making their lives even harder. We are glad to see that different sectors of the society have been lending a hand to help the elderly and the underprivileged, yet support for people with disabilities should not be overlooked. We hope the supermarket and dining cash vouchers are timely and concrete support to ease their burden and stress under the pandemic. Our various support initiatives aim to address the needs of different community groups as we strive to foster a spirit of positivity and mutual support within the society. Let's stand strong and overcome the difficulties together."
AIA has introduced earlier a number of anti-COVID initiatives to support the general public to overcome the pandemic together. In addition to the two charitable donations, which totalled HK$40 million, made to Yan Oi Tong and HKCSS through AIA Foundation, AIA has implemented a Special Claim Arrangement for Hospital Cover1 for eligible customers diagnosed with COVID-19, extending cover to include the following community treatment facilities designated by the Hospital Authority, including the Community Treatment Facility at AsiaWorld-Expo, North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre on Lantau Island, and the newly-added Tsing Yi Community Isolation Facility, San Tin Community Isolation Facility, Community Isolation Facility on Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities Island of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and Fanling Community Isolation Facility. Moreover, AIA's "Free Vaccination Side Effect Cover"2 launched last year has been extended to 31 December 2022. Other measures include offering "Telemedicine Service"3 to selected customers, staff and financial planners in Hong Kong, and providing Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Kits to all financial planners and staff based in Hong Kong. The Company will introduce more support measures in a timely manner in response to the development of the pandemic and the needs of different sectors of the community.
