Frequently asked questions

AIA Vitality Programme

Speak to your financial planner about joining AIA Vitality. If you don't have a financial planner, you can contact us on (852) 2232-8282 or you can send us a request to find you a financial planner here.

You earn AIA Vitality Points by engaging in a number of activities focused on helping you know more about your health and improving it. You may refer to the How to earn points page to find out more about the activities you can do to earn points.

Please note the AIA Vitality Points you can earn are subject to annual limits.

As you take steps to improve your health, we'll award you AIA Vitality Points. Your points add up and help you achieve what we call your AIA Vitality Status. As an AIA Vitality member, you start on Bronze AIA Vitality Status. As you get healthier and accumulate points, your status improves from Bronze, to Silver, then Gold and ultimately Platinum! The higher your status, the greater your rewards. You may refer to Points and Status to see the points needed for each status.

You may refer to your AIA Vitality Points Statement to check for points update. For different activities, it varies as to when the points will be reflected. We aim to have your points reflected on your AIA Vitality Points Statement up to 4 weeks of completing an activity.

If your AIA Vitality Points are not reflected on your statement, please contact us here or call us on (852) 2232-8282.

Your AIA Vitality Points add up to improve your AIA Vitality Status. You carry over this status to your next policy year and your benefits and discounts are based on this status. Your points in the new policy year will however reset to zero and you have to undertake activities to start earning points again.

For example: Claire achieves Gold status in her first year and can instantly enjoy the rewards and benefits as a Gold member. Claire's Gold status will be carried over to the second year and she may continue to enjoy the rewards and benefits of a Gold member throughout the second year. At the beginning of the second year, despite carrying over her Gold status, Claire will start her AIA Vitality Points from zero. In order to maintain her Gold membership through to the third year, Claire will need to continue with her wellness activities and accumulate sufficient AIA Vitality Points. If Claire fails to accumulate enough points, her AIA Vitality Status in the third year will be set according to the points she earned in the second year.

If you notice your AIA Vitality Points are not accurately reflected, please contact us here or call us on (852) 2232-8282 within 30 days. We may need you to provide us with further details or supporting documentation.

AIA Vitality Points and benefits are not transferable to another person/member.

Your AIA Vitality membership will remain valid as long as you are insured under another AIA Vitality Series insurance plan. If you are not insured under any other AIA Vitality Series insurance plan, your AIA Vitality membership will cease at the end of your AIA Vitality membership year.

For your first membership payment, you can pay together with the premium for the newly bought AIA Vitality Series insurance plan. For subsequent years' payment, it should be paid separately to the AIA Vitality membership number.

Your AIA Vitality membership runs for an initial period of 12 months from the date you join AIA Vitality and is automatically renewed unless you call to inform us with 30 days notice. You need to inform us of any change in your payment details to ensure your membership is not cancelled.

Please remember that cancelling your AIA Vitality membership will mean losing access to all AIA Vitality rewards and benefits, including the AIA Vitality insurance premium discounts.

The AIA Vitality membership is an annual membership, so the annual fee is paid up-front. Hence, it is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The AIA Vitality membership fee is only payable on an annual basis.

The AIA Vitality membership is non-transferable.

In Hong Kong, each individual can only have one AIA Vitality membership.

The AIA Vitality programme is independently run in each country; hence your AIA Vitality Points and Status previously earned in other countries with AIA Vitality are non-transferable.

The age requirement for AIA Vitality membership is 18 years and above.

The AIA Vitality programme is offered to the individual who is the life insured of the AIA Vitality Series insurance plan(s) or has enrolled via Corporate Solution scheme. Being the policy owner of the plan does not qualify an individual to apply for the AIA Vitality membership.

AIA Vitality Insurance Premium Discount / Power Up Coverage

An initial insurance premium discount will be applied when an AIA Vitality Series insurance plan is purchased. Thereafter, this premium discount percentage will be re-calculated at each eligible plan anniversary year, and will be subject to upward or downward adjustment based on the AIA Vitality Status that the life insured achieved at the eligible plan anniversary date.

It is a series of AIA insurance plans that are connected to an AIA Vitality membership which gives flexible insurance premium discount at purchase and in the subsequent years based on the life insured's AIA Vitality Status.

You may purchase any AIA Vitality Series insurance plans if the life insured is already an AIA Vitality member. Alternatively, if the life insured is not yet an AIA Vitality member, you can choose to purchase the AIA Vitality membership at the time when you purchase the AIA Vitality Series insurance plan.

Your AIA Vitality Status does not affect the initial premium discount upon the purchase of a new AIA Vitality Series insurance plan.

The initial premium discount is dependent on the AIA Vitality Series insurance plan that you plan to purchase and not dependent on the status at time of purchase.

You do not have to terminate your AIA Vitality Series insurance plan as you are only required to be an AIA Vitality member at time of purchase. However, all your plan(s) will no longer be entitled to AIA Vitality-related insurance premium discount starting from the next anniversary date of the existing AIA Vitality Series insurance plan after termination of the AIA Vitality membership.

The AIA Vitality insurance premium discount is only applicable for new purchase of AIA Vitality Series insurance plan(s). Hence, you will not be able to purchase the AIA Vitality membership separately to attach to your existing AIA Insurance plans.

As an AIA Vitality member, you get to enjoy some very special features on the designated insurance policy that you have, either Premium Discount or Power Up Coverage. You may find out the type of insurance plan and its AIA Vitality features here (https://www.aia.com.hk/en/health-and-wellness/aia-vitality/enjoy-the-rewards/vitality-insurance)

Your policy discount will be based on your AIA Vitality status as at your policy anniversary day. Although your policy renewal bill is sent to you one month prior to your policy anniversary, which may not be the final AIA Vitality status as at anniversary day, we will check your AIA Vitality status again within one month after your policy anniversary and any adjustment on discount due to attaining a higher AIA Vitality status will be credited to your FPDA automatically.

If the membership fee is still unpaid after the grace period, the AIA Vitality membership and relevant benefits shall be terminated, including the premium discount/power up coverage of the specified insurance product(s).

Preferred Device & Device Synchronization

In addition to their discount when you purchase them through AIA Vitality website, our preferred fitness devices / app from Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin and Polar will be your daily companion on your journey to better health!

Please try below troubleshooting steps:

  1. Delink your Fitbit account from your AIA Vitality membership in AIA Vitality website or AIA Vitality mobile app [Homepage -> Improve Your Health -> Fitness Devices -> Fitbit -> Delink]
  2. Log out your Fitbit account in Fitbit app
  3. Re-log in your Fitbit account in Fitbit app
  4. Relink your Fitbit account to your AIA Vitality membership in AIA Vitality website or AIA Vitality mobile app

Please follow below steps on a daily basis if you do not see your steps synchronized to AIA Vitality:

  1. If you are using Apple Watch, ensure your Apple Watch fitness data has been synchronized to your Apple's Health app [It should do so automatically, but if you have any issue, please visit any Apple shop]
  2. Open your Apple's Health app and check whether your exercise record display correctly in your Apple's Health app, then keep this application running in the background, i.e. do not close the app
  3. Open your AIA Vitality mobile app, and then go to the Fitness devices and apps page. You should see the last sync time has been updated. If not, please try again after an hour
  4. You should then see your exercise points credited to your account within the next 48 hours. If not, please retry the above procedure again
Apple app does not keep data more than 30 days, hence, do remember to log into AIA Vitality mobile app at least once in 30 days.

Please log in or register to your Samsung Health with a Samsung account. Once you have done so, please check if you have granted the share data permission in your Samsung Health. Please go to your Samsung Health app, then go to Settings -> Data permissions -> click "AIA Vitality Hong Kong" and see whether the data permissions have been turned on. Please ensure your Samsung Health mobile app is always running in the background and not turn off by any battery saving function in your mobile phone.

If you are using Apple Health or Samsung Health, it's suggest to go to your AIA Vitality mobile app in your old mobile phone and delink them first. To delink your app, please go to Fitness devices and apps -> Apple Health / Samsung Health -> De-link. You should then relink your Apple Health or Samsung Health in your new phone and link them up.

Except for Apple Health, you should expect your fitness data synchronize to AIA Vitality on a daily basis, given you have also synchronized your fitness device to the related mobile app on a daily basis as well. For Apple Health, you should check your fitness data in AIA Vitality mobile app on a daily basis.

Screening And Prevention

Yes, you can earn AIA Vitality Points for specified advanced screeningsvaccinations and dental assessment as long as it was done after you joined AIA Vitality.

AIA Vitality Health Review, Goals And Clinical Guidelines

Your AIA Vitality Age estimates the effect of your lifestyle on your life expectancy. It is calculated using your responses to the AIA Vitality Health Review, your results from the AIA Vitality Health Check, and any other data provided from a verified source, for example the AIA Vitality Nutrition Assessment with a dietitian or an AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment. Your AIA Vitality Age maybe higher or lower than your actual age, depending on whether your lifestyle is having a positive or negative effect on your overall health.

You will be awarded 1,000 AIA Vitality Points for completing the VHR but not for the self-reported values that you input during the VHR.

AIA Vitality Points for healthy-range BMI results are awarded based on verified data, not from self-reported values. Verified data is data submitted through an AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment, AIA Vitality Health Check, AIA Vitality Express Health Check or proof of results from a screen at your preferred healthcare provider, which you have uploaded through the AIA Vitality Points submission page.

If you are pregnant, you can still complete the VHR and VHC to earn AIA Vitality Points. However, certain parts of the programme will not apply to you. For example, you will not receive a goal to reduce your weight while you are pregnant. Also, your AIA Vitality Age may not be accurate as the underlying calculations do not take pregnancy into account.

Recommended goals are based on your health risks, which are determined by your responses to the AIA Vitality Health Review (VHR) and your results from your AIA Vitality Health Check (VHC). The VHR will need to be completed before any goals are recommended. You are given the option to accept the goal after you have completed the VHR.

The number of AIA Vitality Points each member can earn from personal health goals is dependent on each individual's risk profile. If you have a higher health risk, you may be able to earn more points from achieving your personal health goals.

AIA Vitality recommends goals based on whether your measures are considered to be at risk for your demographic group. The goals that are recommended to you are based on your most significant risks. We may recommend fewer goals if you are not at risk in more than one area; or more goals if you are at risk in more than one area.

Your goal recommendations are based on whether your measures are considered to be at risk for your demographic group. So, if your weight is considered to be a risk to your health, AIA Vitality will recommend a goal for you to lose weight. Ask your doctor for guidance on your ideal weight if you have any concerns.

No, as goals are assigned to you by AIA Vitality based on your health risk profile, which is derived from the answers to your AIA Vitality Health Review questions, and other verifiable sources.

Goals are tracked using verified results which you submit to us directly, or which our partners submit to us on your behalf and with your consent. Examples include the AIA Vitality Health Check results, and workout data submitted through partner fitness devices.

Weight results must be submitted through the AIA Vitality Health Check, AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment, or AIA Vitality Nutrition Assessment with a nutritionist / dietitian. Only weight measurements from a verified source will count toward achieving a goal.

Unless there has been a change to your health profile since the goal was initially recommended, you should be able to select the goal again if you did not achieve it by the expiration date.
