AIA Dining Cover 2

1. What is AIA Dining Cover 2?

AIA Dining Cover 2 is a general insurance product that provides accidental hospital income benefit, accidental death benefit and accidental outpatient benefit for designated accidents that directly resulting from covered restaurant booking. It is underwritten by AIA International Limited (a company incorporated in Bermuda with limited liability) ("AIA") and covers restaurant bookings in Hong Kong that are made through OpenRice platform (“booking”).

2. What are the benefits of AIA Dining Cover 2?

1. Accidental hospital income benefit

Covering hospitalisation from food poisoning, food allergy, bodily injuries or traffic accidents from covered restaurant booking (HKD 800 hospital income per day, up to 10 days per covered booking for each insured during the coverage period* and 40 days per calendar year per insured across all AIA Dining Cover 2 policies).

When the incident happens as follow:

  • Food poisoning (incurred within three days after the booking time)
  • Food allergy (incurred within three days after the booking time)
  • Bodily injury (incurred within one hour before or three hours after the booking time in the restaurant area, including skin burn)
  • Traffic accident (incurred on the journey to and from the restaurant within three hours before and/or five hours after the booking time)

2. Accidental death benefit

HKD10,000 lump sum payment in case of insured's death from the above incidents during the coverage period* (We will pay the Accidental Death Benefit for the same insured person under all AIA Dining Cover 2 policies once only).

3. Accidental outpatient benefit

Covering outpatient consultation visits from skin burn and food poisoning (Up to HKD 300 claim per covered booking and maximum 1 covered booking per 7 calendar days during the coverage period*).

*i.e. 60 days from the start of Covered Booking Period

3. Who is eligible to apply AIA Dining Cover 2?

AIA Dining Cover 2 provides protection for:

Policyowner (self):
18 to 70 years old with a valid HKID

Spouse:
Legally married to policyowner and aged 70 or below with a valid HKID

Minor Child(ren):
14 days to 17 years old with a valid HKID or Hong Kong birth certificate, unmarried

All applicant(s) and insured(s) must be residing and locating in Hong Kong at the time of policy application.

4. How long is the covered booking period of AIA Dining Cover 2?

The covered booking period of AIA Dining Cover 2 starts from 3 hours and lasts until 30 days after the Certificate of Insurance is issued.

5. Can I add friend(s) or other family member(s) as Insured?

You can add your legally married spouse and minor, unmarried child(ren) as Insured.

You can forward the AIA Dining Cover 2 application link to them after your application, so that they can apply for the coverage as well.

8. Do I need to activate AIA Dining Cover 2 to enjoy the benefits?

No, you don’t. After you apply for AIA Dining Cover 2, you will receive the Certificate of Insurance by email. Three hours after the policy issuance, any of the restaurant bookings you have made via OpenRice within the covered booking period will be covered.

9. If the Insured first seeks outpatient consultation, then confined and subsequently passes away directly due to a covered incident within the coverage period, will all the Accidental Outpatient Benefit, Accidental Hospital Income Benefit and Accident Death Benefit be paid?

Yes, we will pay all the Accidental Outpatient Benefit, Accidental Hospital Income Benefit and Accidental Death Benefit if the insured seeks outpatient consultation, then confined and subsequently dies directly due to a covered incident.

10. If the Insured first seeks outpatient consultation, then confined, or passes away as a result of 2 or more covered incidents (e.g. bodily injury and Food poisoning under the same covered booking), can the benefit be paid twice or more?

If the Insured has to seek outpatient consultation, then confined, or passes away as a result of 2 or more covered incidents under the same covered booking, the benefit will only be paid once.

11. If the Insured seek outpatient consultation, is confined, or passes away due to a covered incident in two or more covered bookings within the same covered booking period, can the benefit be paid twice or more?

If the insured seek outpatient consultation, is confined, or passes away due to a covered incident in two or more covered bookings within the same covered booking period, the benefit limit is as follows:

  • Accidental Hospital Income Benefit: Maximum 10 days per Covered Booking. Maximum 40 days per calendar year, for all AIA Dining Cover 2 policies issued in respect of the same Insured
  • Accidental Death Benefit: Once only for all AIA Dining Cover 2 policies issued in respect of the same Insured
  • Accidental Outpatient Benefit: Maximum 1 covered booking per 7 calendar days
12. What will happen to the purchased AIA Dining Cover 2, if the restaurant booking date and/or time has been changed or cancelled?

If the new restaurant booking date is under the covered booking period, your booking will still be covered. If you cancel a restaurant booking, other bookings within the covered booking period will not be affected.

Restaurant booking where the Booking Time is 3 hours after the booking is made or last edited on the Booking Platform, whichever is later will be covered.

13. How can I check my AIA Dining Cover 2 policy information or file a claim?

You may check your AIA Dining Cover 2 policy details or file a claim through below channels:

  • AIA Dining Cover 2 policy confirmation SMS/ Email;
  • AIA Dining Cover 2 marketing banner placed by AIA along the restaurant booking detail on OpenRice App (Only applicable to the customer who booked the restaurant via OpenRice platform);
  • AIA Dining Cover 2 website, and click "Check now" button

Then, select 'Apply claim' under corresponding AIA Dining Cover 2 policy.

14. How long after an accident should the claim be filed?

You are required to file a claim within 30 days after the date of outpatient visit or hospital discharge. In the event of death, please contact us for claims as soon as practicable.

15. Can AIA cancel my AIA Dining Cover 2 policy?

We have the right to cancel your AIA Dining Cover 2 policy at any time by giving 14 days' notice in writing to you.

When the booking date falls within the 14 days' notice period, all benefit entitlements will follow standard terms and conditions.

When the booking date is beyond the 14 days' notice period, the policy will be cancelled at the end of 14 days' notice period and no coverage will be provided. We will refund the actual premium paid by you.

We will not cancel the policy if you have already attended to the restaurant before we issue the written notice. All benefit entitlements will follow standard terms and conditions.

16. If I do not make any restaurant bookings within 30 days after purchasing AIA Dining Cover 2, can the premium of the purchased AIA Dining Cover 2 be refunded?

1. How to download and install "AIA Connect" Mobile App?

Depending on the device, users can download the "AIA Connect" App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

2. How to register "AIA Connect" account?

After installing the "AIA Connect" Mobile App, a New user can select "New User Registration". Follow the instructions to register an account by providing an Email address and Mobile number.

3. I have registered "AIA Connect" account before but forgot the Login ID & Password. How could I retrieve the login details?

Users can select "Forgot login id/password" in the "AIA Connect" Mobile APP and follow the instructions to provide their Email and Mobile Number for Login ID recovery and password reset.

4. I did not receive "AIA Connect" new password. What shall I do?

About Login and Account Maintenance / Forgot Login Details / Did not receive new Password

After you have submitted the request for creating a new password, you will receive a new OTP within 1 hour (by SMS or email). If no mobile number has been registered in your Easy Login ID before, please note that the new password letter will be sent by post within 3 working days.

5. I did not receive One-Time-Passcode (OTP). What shall I do?
